KENNESAW, Ga. -- Friends of theCherokee Countycouple injured in last week's Texas paradecrash are planningtheir firstfundraisersfor the Ladners next month.

Shane and Meg Ladner were riding on float ina parade for wounded veterans when a trainbarreled into them. Four people were killed. The Ladners were among more than a dozen others who were hurt.

Meg lost her left leg in the crash.Shane, a Holly SpringsPolice officer,suffered back injuries.

The couple was finally ableto return tometro AtlantaMonday night, where they will continue medical treatment.11Alive's Help Desk arranged to help the Ladnerswith some of their immediate needs, but theystill facemany expenses ahead.

To help, the Ladners' friends are hosting two fundraisers at the LongHorn Steakhouse at 2700 Town Center Drive in Kennesaw. The pancake breakfasts and silent auctionswill run from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday,Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 8.A $20 donation is requested.

Donations are also being accepted through a fund for the Ladners at Cherokee Bank. Updates on their recovery are being posted on a Facebook page, "Prayers for Shane and Meg Ladner."
