(USA Today) -- Things are not looking good for the Enterprise crew.
Paramount Pictures released a teaser trailer of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness featuring the disturbingly evil voice of the new villain played by Benedict Cumberbatch.
He's says menacingly: "I have returned to have my vengeance." Judging by the glimpses of destruction that follows, he's definitely not happy.
Cumberbatch's baddie is still a mystery. But much of the Star Trek gang including Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto) are present and accounted for. Spock is even seen brandishing a serious firearm.
"I'm trying to save the world. We'll see if it works or not," Quinto told USA TODAY last week. "It's bigger and bolder than the last one. It's just a bigger story. There's more action, more at stake. In the first movie, it was all about us coming together and getting to know one another."
On Dec. 14, nine minutes of the much-awaited film (out May 2013) will play on 500 IMAX 3-D screens in front of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
