LITHONIA, Ga. -- Eighteen-year-old Trevin Hunte returned home to perform at his former middle school in Lithonia on Thursday morning.

Nine hundred kids packed into the Lithonia Middle School gymnasium for a special assembly and cheered for the former student before he performed two songs, one with the show choir, which he was a part of in middle school.
Trevin walked the halls of the school and everywhere he turned, people were there to hug and congratulate him on bring on the show.
Hunte talked a lot about the teachers who encouraged him, and believed in his talent.
He also discussed those butterflies he gets just before stepping on stage.
He said spending time with his family and going back to his old middle school made for one of the best days of his life.
But it was a whirlwind trip.
He arrived on a red-eye at sunrise from Hollywood, spent the day on the go then hopped back on a flight to Los Angeles. He has the next few days to select songs, rehearse and get ready "the Voice" on Monday at 8 p.m.
