Storrs, CT (Sports Network) - DeAndre Daniels poured in a game-high 23 points to lead the Connecticut Huskies to a 57-49 victory over the Harvard Crimson in a non-conference tilt at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion.
Ryan Boatright added 16 points for UConn (7-2), while Shabazz Napier contributed nine assists, seven rebounds, and four steals to make up for his 2-of-7 shooting performance from the floor. The win was the third in four outings for the Huskies.
Wesley Sanders paced Harvard (4-4) with 14 points and four assists. Steve Moundou-Missi chipped in 10 points for the Crimson, who had their two-game winning streak snapped.
UConn jumped out to an early 15-2 lead just over six minutes after tip-off, but Harvard battled back and went into the intermission trailing 27-24. The Huskies shot 55 percent from the field in the first half, but the visitors stayed in striking distance by connecting on 5-of-10 attempts from beyond the arc.
The Crimson could not keep up in the second half as UConn built its lead back up the double-digits with 7:39 left in regulation. Harvard cooled off and could not convert any of their six three-point attempts in the final 20 minutes.
Although it lost the rebounding battle 27-20, UConn managed to pick up the win by forcing 18 turnovers.
