Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Victor Rudd scored a game-high 29 points and hit a number of clutch shots down the stretch as the South Florida Bulls outlasted the Bowling Green Falcons in triple overtime, 87-84, in a non-conference thriller at the Sun Dome.
Martino Brock scored 18 points and Toarlyn Fitzpatrick put in 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds for South Florida (7-3). Jawanza Poland add 11 points and also collected eight rebounds for the Bulls who have won five of their last six.
Jordon Crawford scored 27 points and A'uston Calhoun added 22 points and eight rebounds for Bowling Green (5-6) which has lost consecutive games.
South Florida led 34-27 at the end of the first half despite shooting 41.4 percent from the field by outscoring the Falcons 8-0 from the free throw line.
The Bulls led 43-31 with 14:34 remaining but the Falcons ripped off a 20-6 run to take a 51-49 lead with 8:25 left in regulation. Bowling Green would then lead 60-53 with just over a minute left but the Bulls hit their final three field goal attempts including a 3-pointer from Rudd with four seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.
A pair of missed field goals and a missed shot at the buzzer from South Florida, allowed the Falcons to overcome a four-point deficit with 33 seconds remaining when Crawford nailed a layup with five seconds left in the first overtime.
Another Crawford layup, this time with 32 seconds left in the second overtime, pushed Bowling Green ahead 78-75 but Rudd nailed a 3-pointer on the Bulls' next possession to keep the game going.
Rudd hit three free throws in the final 13 seconds and Richaun Holmes missed a 3-point shot at the buzzer as the Bulls escaped with the win.
