Lafayette, LA (Sports Network) - Shawn Long tallied a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns downed the Duquesne Dukes, 91-79, in a non-conference matchup at the Cajundome.
For the Ragin' Cajuns (5-8), Bryant Mbamalu added 22 points, Steven Wronkoski finished with 12 points, and Elridge Moore chipped in with 10 points.
Derrick Colter led the Dukes (7-6) with 25 points, while Sean Johnson scored 16 points and Jeremiah Jones scored 12 points.
Duquesne shot 43.3 percent from the floor in the first half, including 6-of-11 from beyond the arc, as it took a 38-33 lead into halftime. Louisiana shot 42.4 percent from the field in the half.
After intermission, the Ragin' Cajuns got red-hot, connecting on 71.4 percent of their field goal tries, including 6-of-8 from long distance. The Dukes did their best to keep up, hitting 51.9 percent of their shots from the field, including 5-of-12 from 3-point range. Trailing by four, 49-45, with just over 15 minutes to play, the Ragin' Cajuns ran off nine straight points to take a four-point advantage, a lead they would never relinquish. Louisiana pushed its advantage to as many as 16 points as it coasted to victory.
The Ragin' Cajuns outscored the Dukes in the paint, 40-30, and won the rebounding battle, 33-26.
