GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- Police have made an arrest in the murder of an employee at Carriage Auto Group in Gainesville.
Mark Antonio Taylor, II, 21, was arrested and charged with murder after an early morning standoff in Atlanta.
Gainesville Police Lt. Kevin Holbrook says Taylor shot and killed Charles Weaver Friday morning at Carriage Mitsubishi. Police also say Taylor stole a distinctive red Nissan Frontier pickup with markings from the dealership after the murder.
A citizen spotted the vehicle early on Saturday after seeing the description on a newscast. The recovery of the vehicle subsequently led to a person of interest. Gainesville Police and Atlanta Police SWAT team conducted an early morning search warrant on the apartment where Taylor was taken into custody.
Taylor is currently being held at the Hall County Jail facing charges of murder, armed robbery, theft by taking of a motor vehicle, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Police say that the murder was a random crime and neither Weaver nor Carriage Auto Group was targeted.
