SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Police say a 2-year-old boy who was shot in Savannah may have picked up a gun and shot himself.

The boy was taken to Memorial University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries after the incident Sunday. It is unclear where the boy was wounded.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police responded to the shooting around 2:45 p.m. and say the weapon used in the incident may have been left in a drawer.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
