COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Students were evacuated from an elementary school in Columbus after a fire broke out in one the building's bathrooms.

Between 50 and 60 students and 10 adults were evacuated from Dawson Elementary School Wednesday afternoon. Officials say the students were in the building for after school programs.

Officials say there was heavy smoke inside the school and the building sustained some smoke damage. There were no reported injuries.

Authorities are unsure of what caused the fire and say the blaze was contained to the bathroom it originated in.
