Chapel Hill, NC (Sports Network) - Reggie Bullock scored 17 points as he helped guide the North Carolina Tar Heels to a 79-63 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in ACC play at the Smith Center.
P.J. Hairston accounted for 15 points in just 17 minutes off the bench for the Tar Heels (13-5, 3-2 ACC), while James Michael McAdoo came up a rebound shy of a double-double as he dropped in 14 points, although he shot just 4-of-10 at the free-throw line as the team won for the third time in as many games.
The Yellow Jackets (10-7, 0-5) were paced by Kammeon Holsey who accounted for a game-high 18 points and also captured nine rebounds before fouling out. Chris Bolden tacked on 10 points, while Robert Carter and Marcus Georges-Hunt hit the glass for 12 and 10 rebounds, respectively. The setback was the fifth straight for Tech.
North Carolina scored the first points of the night and never looked back, hitting on 42.1 percent from the floor in the first half in order to claim a 40-32 advantage at the break. The Yellow Jackets made good on just 33.3 percent from the field through the first 20 minutes of action.
In the second half the lead for the Tar Heels ballooned to 19 points as the visitors again had trouble finding the basket.
Georgia Tech won the battle of the boards, 50-45, but the team was guilty of 19 turnovers and connected on just 4-of-15 shots from 3-point range on the night.
