Troy, AL (Sports Network) - Jordan Williams knocked down 7-of-9 shots from 3- point range, finishing with 25 points as he led the North Texas Mean Green to a narrow 63-61 win over the Troy Trojans in a Sun Belt Conference battle at Trojan Arena.
Williams shot 9-of-11 from the floor overall for the Mean Green (10-18, 5-12 Sun Belt) as they won for the second time in the last three outings. Roger Franklin and Alzee Williams chipped in with 10 points apiece for the visitors.
The Trojans (11-16, 6-10) were paced by Hunter Williams who tallied 21 points, while Deonata Jethroe registered a double-double with 10 points and a game- high 10 rebounds as the team bowed for the third time in four tries.
Both teams had trouble finding the basket in the first half, but even with only 33.3 percent accuracy from the floor the Mean Green were able to establish a 28-26 advantage at the break.
In the second half UNT erupted for a staggering 77.8 percent from the field (14-of-18) and yet the team still only won by two points.
In a game that featured 12 ties and 16 lead changes, North Texas survived despite clearing a mere five offensive rebounds.
