ATLANTA -- Several students at an Atlanta middle school came down with a mysterious itching Monday afternoon, when Atlanta Fire was dispatched around 12:15.
The students attend Brown Middle School in southwest Atlanta. Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochransaid that when they arrived to the school,crews learned the complaints were coming from a third-floor classroom.
A half hour later, crews evacuated the entire third floor as a safetyprecaution.
There was no immediate word on what caused the rash. Tests for a variety of toxins and carbon monoxide were taken, but the results came back negative.
So far, 29 students have been taken to Hughes Spalding Hospital as a precaution, according to Atlanta Public Schools spokesman Steve Alford.
The parents of all the students have been notified, and they've been asked to come to the hospital for their children.
Officials said there were no hives or rashes reported, but a lot of mild itching among the students.
