Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Daniel Barnes posted 13 points and nine rebounds as the Illinois-Chicago Flames slipped by the Wright State Raiders, 60-55, in Horizon League action at UIC Pavilion.
Also scoring in double figures for the Flames (16-13, 7-8 HL) was Hayden Humes with 10 points, stemming from 3-of-6 shooting behind the 3-point line, as the squad snapped a three-game slide.
The Raiders (18-11, 9-6) were paced by JT Yoho with a game-high 16 points off the bench before fouling out, while Jerran Young and Kendall Griffin chipped in with 13 and 10 points, respectively, as the team bowed for the third time in the last four outings.
UIC led by as many as 11 points in the first half, shooting 42.9 percent from the floor, but at the same time the Flames made only half of their 10 chances at the free-throw line, allowing Wright State to keep the game close and knot the score at the break, 27-27.
In the second half the Raiders went from shooting 45.8 percent from the field through the first 20 minutes to just 35.7 percent. Add to that a 15-of-22 shooting effort by the Flames at the charity stripe and the hosts had enough going for them that they could bring home the five-point win.
The Flames outscored Wright State at the free-throw line by a 20-8 margin on the night.
