Peoria, IL (Sports Network) - Doug McDermott finished with 32 points and 11 rebounds as the Creighton Bluejays coasted to an 80-62 decision over the Bradley Braves in a Missouri Valley Conference tilt Carver Arena.
McDermott went 12-of-17 from the field for Creighton (23-7, 12-5 MVC), which will have a chance to claim its first outright MVC regular-season title since the 2001-02 campaign on Saturday when it squares off with Wichita State. Will Artino added 10 points and seven rebounds while Grant Gibbs dealt out eight assists.
Walt Lemon, Jr. paced Bradley (16-14, 7-10) with 17 points in the setback. Will Egolf chimed in with 11 points.
McDermott scored Creighton's first eight points of the contest, but the Bluejays had trouble creating distance on the scoreboard and went into the break with a narrow, 32-28 lead. The Braves trailed at the break after going 1-of-9 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes.
Bradley connected on 45.8 percent of its field goal tries and converted 8- of-11 at the charity stripe after the break, but Creighton pulled away by shooting 57.1 percent from the floor. The Bluejays outscored the hosts, 20-12, in the paint after halftime as they built their lead to as many as 27.
Creighton held a 41-20 edge in the rebounding battle and outscored Bradley, 21-13, at the free-throw line.
