Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Robert Carter Jr. recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as they defeated the Maryland Terrapins, 78-68, in an ACC clash at the McCamish Pavilion.
Carter Jr. went 7-of-11 from the field for the Yellow Jackets (15-12, 5-10 ACC), who had lost three of their four games prior to this meeting. Brandon Reed scored 17 points while Daniel Miller added 16 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Miller went a perfect 12-of-12 from the free-throw line.
Dez Wells led Maryland (19-9, 7-8) with 15 points as the Terps lost their third game in the last five outings and took their sixth loss in their last seven away games. Alex Len added 13 points and nine rebounds before fouling out. Seth Allen had 12 points and Nick Faust managed 10 points with six turnovers.
The Yellow Jackets shot 57.1 percent from the field in the first half and carried a 38-33 lead into the break.
In the second half, Georgia Tech earned 18 points at the free-throw line and outscored the Terps 40-35.
The Yellow Jackets scored 20 points from the charity stripe throughout the game compared to just 10 for the Terps. Georgia Tech also shot 51 percent from the floor while Maryland shot 42.9 percent.
