ATLANTA -- Some of the area's top high school basketball seniors headed to the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Headquarters downtown for a different competition. They traded their gym shorts and basketball shoes for interview appropriate apparel as finalist for the Newell Rubbermaid Flourish Scholarship.

This is the second year that the Atlanta Tipoff Club has honored senior basketball players who were also leaders in their schools and communities. Some 50 metro area seniors were nominated by their coaches. 18 of those nominated were chosen as finalist. The finalist are interviewed by a panel made up of area business executives.

"We want to make sure we are helping them be the best they can be on the court, off the court and in the classroom," says Robin Holland, Senior Vice President of Equifax." "The Atlanta Tipoff Club has been a great help in that effort."

Five girls and five boys will be chosen to receive one thousand dollar scholarships for college. The 10 finalist will also get to attend the Naismith Awards banquet on March 19, in Atlanta.
