COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- A fire in the 5,000 block of Riverdale Road burned an apartment building to the ground and displaced about 20 people Monday morning.

Clayton County Fire Capt. Walter Barber said crews arrived at around 2:45 a.m. to find one building of the Marquis Cove apartments totally involved in flames. Barber said all firefighters could do was protect surrounding buildings and prevent the fire from spreading. No one was injured.

Barber said officials at the scene are working to determine the needs of the people who have been burned out of their homes. The Red Cross will be asked to assist.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
