WARNER ROBINS, Ga. -- Authorities in middle Georgia have yet to recover a man who jumped into the Ocmulgee River and disappeared.

Authorities say 24-year-old Aaron Cross, of Warner Robins, jumped into the river Monday afternoon and swam about halfway across before screaming to his friends for help. Cross told his friends he was freezing and eventually became submerged in the river.

Macon-Bibb County firefighters used a board to scan the river and assembled a dive team to search for the man. He was still missing Monday evening.

Cross' friends say the man was preparing to move out of the state and wanted to swim in the Ocmulgee River one last time before leaving.
