BROOKHAVEN, Ga. -- A newly elected metro Atlanta mayor is making headlines, not for corruption or scandal, but by helping police catch a group of bandits.
Brookhaven Mayor J. Max Davis had just wrapped up a meeting with the city's new police chief and stopped to get gas.
He noticed some men making noise and carrying bags stuffed with things.
Mayor Davis noticed a woman nearby and asked her if she was looking for those three men.
Turns out they were robbery suspects of a nearby solar store.
"I cut through a neighborhood where I could sort of cut them off with a pass because I know the area," Mayor Davis said.
He then got the attention of a police officer and followed the suspects until they were under arrest.
