HAPEVILLE, Ga. -- Fire officials are investigating a suspicious fire at an empty home in Hapeville.
The blaze was first reported shortly after midnight Thursday at 3430 Harding Avenue.
Hapeville Fire spokesman Joey Overton said witnesses saw people running from the house shortly before the fire broke out, leading investigators to question whether it was arson. No suspects have been identified and the official cause has not yet been determined.
The house was not completely destroyed but still sustained heavy damage, mainly toward the back, Overton said.
There were no reports of any injuries.
