ATLANTA -- Atlanta police were called to a Midtown gas station on Wednesday morning following an armed robbery and carjacking.
The incident took place at the Chevron in the 2100 block of Monroe Drive around 7:40 a.m.
Officer Kim Jones said the victim told police that he was approached by a black male wearing a red shirt, black pants, black jacket and white tennis shoes. The man asked for 75 cents to buy cigars. Further, the man asked the victim to buy the cigars for him.
The man went inside the gas station to buy the cigars. He walked out to give the cigars to the man, and the two sat inside the victim's car.
During that time, a white male approached the vehicle. The first suspect got out of the victim's vehicle, walked around to the driver's side door and brandished a black pistol. He ordered the victim out of the vehicle.
The keys were left in the ignition and the car was still running, Jones said.
When the victim got out, both suspects got inside the victim's car and drove away. The stolen vehicle, Jones said, is a blue Chevrolet Malibu with Georgia tag PIH 3802.
When the suspects drove away, an unknown Toyota Camry followed them, heading north on Piedmont Circle.
