(ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE) -- It's possible that embattled Savannah-based celebrity cook Paula Deen has been approached to join the cast of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," according to a report on VH1 that was picked up by numerous media outlets, including the Los Angeles Times.

ABC declined the LA Times' request for comment, and a Deen spokeswoman did not immediately return the newspaper's emailed request for comment, the paper said.

In 2010, Deen said she'd been asked to do the show but declined, adding: "Fat girls don't look good sweating."

Deen has battled a public relations nightmare following testimony in a court deposition that she used a racial slur and told jokes that denigrate blacks.

VH1 reported that representatives with "Dancing with the Stars" said they would not comment on casting, but did not deny the possibility that Deen would participate.

The show is credited with reigniting the careers of some stars and winning back public support for others.
