ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police have arrested a convicted felon after an argument in which he brandished a handgun.

Authorities say the suspect engaged in an argument with a couple of people on June 28. The incident happened on Georgia Avenue near Grant Park. Police say the suspect fled the scene.

Officers arrested the suspect, identified as Randy Mitchell, nearby on the 600 block of Reed Street where he was observed with a handgun beside the chair he had been sitting.

Authorities further investigated this incident and found that the handgun was listed as stolen in 2006. Mitchell was transported to Fulton County Jail.

Mitchell has been charged with Poss. of a firearm during the commission of a felony, Poss. of firearm by a convicted felon, Aggravated Assault, Theft by receiving stolen property and Criminal use of item with altered ID.
