MARIETTA, Ga. -- For the second time, Cobb County Animal Control will host an event to help find homes for adoptable pets in Cobb County.
"Kritters and Kids" is free to attend, and will be held Saturday, July 20 from 10:00 - 1:00 that day. The department works to put homeless pets with families who will properly take care of them.
A spokesperson for Cobb County said the event provides information on how to safely treat animals, their health and the responsibility of becoming a pet owner.
This year, the program will expand to include ferret and reptile rescues, along with ways to find out if your pet can become a therapy animal. Further, trainers will talk about agility exercises to keep pets active, and how dogs can help those with diabetes.
Facility Operations Manager Billy Mayfield said, "Through the events that the shelter has hosted, we are reaching out to the public in different ways. If someone has never been to our shelter, they should come check us out. We're not your old-school 'dog pound' - our shelter is a bright, clean, friendly and hopeful place."
