ATLANTA -- Friday, June 28th, was a great night for most Atlanta Braves fans. More than 50-thousand packed The Ted for Chipper Jones' jersey retirement night. The team won and everyone left happy.
But minutes later, one fan's mood changed dramatically. Bill Evans was walking back to his car with his roommate in the 100 block of Georgia Ave, when his leg suddenly disappeared into the sidewalk.
Two fans rushed over to help Bill out of the deep, uncovered utility hole that swallowed him up to his hip. Upon removal, he realized it was too painful to stand on his left leg and he was bleeding.
He contacted 11Alive to help resolve the problem so no other pedestrians would be injured.
