MARIETTA, Ga. -- Marietta Fire is investigating an apartment fire that displaced 63 residents at an apartment complex on Powder Springs Road Friday.

Cobb County Fire spokesman Denell Lee Boyd said the fire broke out shortly before 8 a.m. at the Ashley Mill Apartments on Powder Springs Road.

The burning building was evacuated. Boyd said fire officials were afraid it would collapse.

According to Marietta Fire, one trapped resident was transported to Kennestone Hospital for treatment. Two others residents suffered minor injuries and were treated a released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
