Prosecutors say Antonio was killed in an attempted robbery and that ballistics and other evidence implicate Elkins. The baby's mother, Sherry West, was wounded in the shooting. She is expected to take the stand Tuesday.
Prosecutors said Monday they expected to wrap up their case Tuesday. Then the defense will begin presenting testimony and evidence.
The trial is being held in Marietta because of pretrial publicity.
If convicted, 18-year-old Elkins faces up to life in prison. His mother is on trial alongside him on charges of evidence tampering and lying to police.
