Gwinnett County Police Department officers responded to a report of a kidnapping at the Bridgewater Apartments, on 1500 Ridge Brook Trail, in unincorporated Duluth at about 6:15 a.m. on September 11.
The victim, an adult male, reported that he had been kidnapped from the complex at about 1:30 a.m. that morning. He reported that he arrived home from work at about 1:30 a.m. and was confronted by two young black male suspects as he got out of his car. The suspects ordered the victim back into the car at gunpoint and got in after him.
The suspects ordered the victim to get onto I-85 South and after traveling a few exits ordered him to pull over. The victim was then forced into the back seat where he was pistol-whipped and beaten as the suspects demanded access to his bank account. One of the suspects then got into the driver's seat and operated the vehicle while the second suspect remained in the back with the victim. The suspect in the back attempted to burn the victim with a cigarette lighter to gain the victim's PIN number.
The suspects went to the Wells Fargo Bank ATM machine at 2349 Cheshire Bridge Road and attempted to use the victim's debit and credit cards with the PIN he provided. Photos of this attempt are included. The vehicle in the photos belongs to the victim and is accounted for. After obtaining money from the ATM, the suspects abandoned the victim and his vehicle at an apartment complex in Atlanta.
After the suspects fled, the victim was able to locate his car keys and drive home. Upon arriving at home, the victim and his brother called police. The victim's brother reported that the suspects had demanded a ransom from him using the victim's phone. The victim was in the custody of the suspects for nearly five hours and was attacked several times throughout. Although visibly injured, the victim did not wish to be taken to a hospital and remained with family.
The first suspected was a black male, about 19-years-old, 6-feet tall with an average build, while the second suspect was a black male, about 19-years-old, 5-feet-7-inches tall with an average build.
