Police believe the shooting was the result of a fight. Investigators said Smith was an innocent bystander who was hit while trying to break up the fight. Some children were also struck and were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Neighbors said Smith had a big heart and loved God. She was active in Fire and Water Ministries and led a church group that would travel the world to feed people in need.
