JONESBORO, Ga. -- Clayton County police are investigating two murder cases involving victims who where shot and killed after they answered their doors.

In the first one, officers were called to Queen's Drive in Jonesboro at about 10 p.m. on Saturday night.

Investigators said someone inside the home opened the door to find a gunman who opened fire.

One person was killed. Another victim was taken to Atlanta Medical Center.

The second murder happened 30 minutes later in Stockbridge.

Clayton county police were called to the Motel 6, where a couple was robbed after answering a knock at the door.

"They answered the door," said Lt. Robbie Frederick. "A suspect confronted them at the door. There was a theft. There was gunfire."

The man was shot and killed, but police said a woman inside the room was not hurt.
