DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- One of two candidates will be chosen as the new DeKalb County Fire Rescue Chief.
DeKalb County interim CEO Lee May announced Thursday that a field of 110 applicants has been whittled down to Fulton County Deputy Fire Chief Darnell Fullum and Gary (Ind.) Fire Chief Teresa Everett.
Both candidates will introduce themselves to the public and speak at a forum on Tuesday, Dec. 10 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Maloof Auditorium in Decatur.
According to his resume, Fullum has worked for the Fulton County Fire Department since May 1987, shortly after his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army. He has an A.S. in business, a B.S. in management and an M.A. in leadership, all from Shorter University in Rome, and wrote his master's thesis on Contemporary Management Theories Practical Application to a Fire Department.
Everett worked for the City of College Park Fire and Rescue before becoming Gary's fire chief in 2012, and has more than 15 years of fire and emergency services experience, according to her resume. She has a B.A. in psychology from SUNY Buffalo and an MPA degree in fiscal and human resource management from the University of Miami.
