ATLANTA -- A young girl was killed in the crash at the intersection of Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway and Fulton Industrial.
The child, Syumia Knight, was 12-years-old. The wreck took place on Donald Lee Pkwy at Fulton Industrial Blvd. around 7 a.m. on Friday.
The Accident Investigation Unit spent hours this morning reconstructing this accident, even though it was a not a hit and run.
Police say Robert Culver caused the wreck. He stayed at the scene and answered questions for the police and walked them through what happened.
According to police, Culver was in a white pickup on the eastbound side of Donald Lee Holowell Parkway waiting to turn left when the female driver of the other car came through the intersection going Westbound with a Knight in her backseat.
The truck turned too soon, clipped the car and sent it spinning on to the side of the road.
Knight was taken to Grady Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The female driver of the car hit was also taken to the Grady, however, her condition is not known.
Police do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role.
Culver has been cited for failure to yield while turning left and Second Degree Vehicular Homicide.
