ATLANTA (AP) - The Atlanta Braves are searching for developers interested in building retail stores, restaurants, apartments and condominiums outside a proposed stadium in Cobb County.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the baseball team sent developers a 60-page document outlining its goals for the planned stadium north of Atlanta.
One quarter of the 60-acre site would be earmarked for the stadium itself, leaving room for mixed-use development. Most of it would be centered along a pedestrian boulevard extending from Cobb Parkway to the ballpark.
The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted Nov. 26 to approve a deal with the Braves. It commits $300 million in taxpayer money toward stadium construction. The mixed-use development will be privately funded.
