(WXIA) -- Skiing champion Lindsey Vonn will not compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi next month.
Vonn announced on "TODAY" Tuesday morning that her knee is too unstable to allow her to compete at an Olympic level.
"I did everything I possibly could to somehow get strong enough to overcome having no ACL but the reality has sunk in that my knee is just too unstable to compete at this level," Vonn wrote on her Facebook page.
Vonn, 29, won gold and bronze medals at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Last November, she tore her ACL in a crash during training.
