ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga -- Authorities have made two armed robbery suspects their top priority and a surveillance video from one of two stores they robbed shows exactly why.
The video shows the two suspects, with covered faces and wearing hoods, pepper spray the store clerks repeatedly. One of the suspects was carrying a machete as a weapon. "Our biggest concern is that someone is going to get severely injured or even worse, killed, if they do strike again," said Chief Deputy Scott Freeman of the Rockdale County Sheriff Office.
Parul Amin is the owner of the BP convenience store at 4624 Highway 138 in Stockbridge. She said the two suspects stormed into her store at about 5PM on Saturday. "They were coming and I saw them and they just sprayed me and took all the money," Amin said. She said they sprayed her three or four times.
Surveillance photos from her store showed one of the suspects carrying a machete. She said she couldn't get a good look at their faces. "It was burning (her face) so I cannot see anything," she said.
Shortly after midnight Monday Chief Deputy Scott said the same two men approached a clerk at the BP station at 2992 Highway 155, about two miles away. The clerk was emptying a garbage can outside the store when the two men approached her, sprayed her with pepper spray and knocked her to the ground.
One of the suspects ran into the store and jumped on the counter but couldn't get the cash register open. With a machete in his hand he ordered the clerk to open it. "She's completely compliant which raises a red flag for us about what their potential is for violence," Chief Freeman said.
The suspects showed their ruthlessness before they left the store by spraying the clerk one more time. "These two guys are Rockdale County's most wanted right now and we have allocated a significant number of law enforcement officers to identify them and to get them into custody," Chief Freeman said.
The Chief Deputy said that won't be possible without help from the public. They are asking anyone who recognizes the suspects to contact Crime Stoppers Atlantaat 404-577-TIPS (8477).
