SUWANEE, Ga. -- A man who jumped into the Chattahoochee River while trying to evade some bail bondsmen was taken to the hospital after he was rescued by authorities Wednesday afternoon.

Suwanee Police said the man was visiting relatives when he was approached by the bail bondsmen. The man ran to the river near McGinnis Ferry Roadand jumped in.

Investigators said the man was later rescued by Suwanee Police, assisted by the Gwinnett County Swift Water Rescue Team. He was taken from the river and transported to a local hospital.
