ATLANTA -- Give up a gun and get a gift card.

That was the offer today from Atlanta's branch of the NAACP as it hosted a gun buyback initiative at Turner Field.

Organizers hoped to get a thousand guns off Atlanta's streets.

The event was meant to coincide with the call for no-violence on the upcoming Martin Luther King holiday.

Along with the cops collecting guns were pawn shop owners also soliciting gun buy backs.
