Police responded to Valrie's unit at the Wesley St. Claire Apartments on Sweetwater Road in unincorporated Lawrenceville on Wednesday, after the suspect called them to report his 3-month-old daughter Aliyana had stopped breathing.

Aliyana was rushed to Gwinnett Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

While performing an autopsy, the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner discovered significant trauma on Aliyana's body, according to Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Jake Smith.

Detectives determined Valrie most likely shook his daughter to death, Smith said. The suspect was arrested Thursday.
