(WXIA) -- The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Atlanta area from 7 p.m. Monday to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

11Alive meteorologist Allison Chinchar said the watch is issued for a line extending from Carroll County to Jackson County, and north to the Tennessee state line. Metro Atlanta is included in the watch; the Athens-Clarke County area is not.

Chinchar said parts of metro Atlanta will likely experience some snow, but the exact amount is not yet known, as low temperatures are in flux.

A second round of winter storms is expected to pass through the area Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, which could bring a mix of rain/snow/sleet.

This is an evolving weather situation with some inconsistency in weather models. We will continue to fine tune any impact from snow vs ice and locations as it develops.
