(WXIA) -- Although the U.S. Department of Agriculture says an average family of four with two school-age children spends $240 a week on groceries, there are ways to spend a lot less.

After we came up with 5 ways to slash your food budget by $375 per month, I put it the theories into practice at a local grocery store. My goal was to buy nutritious, well balanced meals that were not high in sodium, preservatives and fat.

Here is what I bought for $92.86:
