ATLANTA -- A local college student is a $1 million richer after striking it big in the Powerball.

Sabrina Yates of Kennesaw matched the first five winning numbers in the Feb. 19 Powerball drawing, according to Georgia Lottery.

Yates, 22, bought the ticket at the QuikTrip on Paces Ferry Road in Atlanta. She claimed her million-dollar prize Feb. 24 at the Georgia Lottery headquarters.

"I didn't know I'd won until my boyfriend looked at the ticket," she said. "I laughed and said that it wasn't real."

The lucky winner said her winnings don't seem real.

"It hasn't sunk in yet in the slightest," she said.

Yates is studying sports management and intends to complete school.
