ATLANTA -- Seven months after losing a bid to build a new restaurant in Mountain View, Calif., Chick-fil-A is taking its sandwiches four miles down the road ... to Sunnyvale.

It will be the Atlanta-based chain's second Silicon Valley location.

Chick-fil-A media reps didn't return several calls seeking comment.

But the new franchise is a sure sign the company is still looking to establish a stronger foothold in that part of California.

The chain generated $4.6 billion in sales last year, up about 12 percent from $4.1 billion in 2011. It also opened 96 restaurants in 2012, bringing its count at the end of the year to 1,690 locations in 39 states and Washington, D.C.
