ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens says a former metro Atlanta insurance agent has been arrested on fraud charges.
Hudgens said Thursday that 30-year-old Juan Pablo Navas, of Mableton, is charged with six counts of insurance fraud, three counts of financial transaction fraud and four counts of forgery. He's accused of pocketing premiums customers paid him for insurance coverage.
Hudgens says several of Navas' clients complained they were getting cancellation notices from their insurers, saying their insurance was being cut because of lack of payment.
Hudgens says the agency Navas worked for has covered customers' missing payments and Navas surrendered his insurance license May 14.
Navas is being held in the Gwinnett County jail and it's unclear if he has an attorney.
