WASHINGTON (AP) -- There's been lots of talk, but apparently little progress made in averting the sharp tax increases and deep spending cuts set to take effect in January.

House Speaker John Boehner says it's time for PresidentBarack Obama to get serious about the so-called fiscal cliff.

But one of his colleagues, Oklahoma Republican Tom Cole, says he's willing to go along with Obama's plan to renew expiring tax cuts for all but the highest wage earners.
