EAST POINT, Ga.-- East Point police are concerned about a shooting investigation they're working on, and they want residents to be aware of it. In two separate incidents Tuesday morning, a man drove up to a woman walking on the sidewalk and asked for sex in exchange for money. Police say when the women refused, they were shot.

"In my 15 years as a police officer, this is one of those cases that deeply deeply concerns me," said Lt. Cliff Chandler of the East Point Police Department. "We're hoping someone will recognize this person and come forward."

The first incident happened just before 7 a.m. as the woman was walking along Cleveland Avenue in East Point. She was shot in the neck. An hour later in College Park, another woman was shot in the torso. Both are in critical condition at the hospital. Police say they did not appear to be prostitutes, and criminal background checks came up clean.

Police warn residents to be on the lookout for a black male in his late 20s or early 30s, with dreadlocks, driving a late model silver compact car. If you see him or know him, you are asked to call Detective Donna Williams at 404-761-2177.
