JONESBORO, Ga. -- Clayton County Police are investigating the shooting death of 19-year-old Quinn Kevon Heckstall. Police said Heckstall was shot Saturday night as he entered a home off Mt. Zion Parkway.

Heckstall is the great-nephew of State Rep. Joe Heckstall (D-East Point).

"You better believe, we will not rest until we get to the bottom of who is responsible for this heinous crime," Rep. Heckstall said Sunday.

Monday night, police arrested Divonte Lester in connection with Heckstall's death. Lester surrendered to Clayton County police and is being charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless conduct and tampering with evidence.

The shooting happened at 7:30Saturday eveningin the Carriage Place neighborhood. Heckstall was taken to Southern Regional Hospital, where he later died.

Family members told 11Alive News, Heckstall recently graduated from military school and looked forward to going into service.

"He really enjoyed writing and he volunteered often," said Heckstall's aunt, Ivory Cloud. "He was just really looking forward to living his life and living out his goals."

"He is a victim of what is so pervasive in our society," Rep. Heckstall said. "I do believe this is bigger than our family."

"We are going to pursue this with every inch and every breath we have to make sure justice is done," Heckstall said.
