LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Shots were fired at a Gwinnett County Kroger Monday afternoon.

The shooting happened shortly after 12 p.m. at the store at 455 Grayson Highway in the city of Lawrenceville.

Lawrenceville Police Capt. Greg Vaughn said two women were injured in the shooting; one was shot in the leg, another in the stomach. One suspect was arrested. No names have been released.

Kroger released a statement Monday afternoon that said in part, "The safety of our customers and associates is first and foremost ... We are working closely with the Lawrenceville police department and providing information to assist with their investigation. Our store has been evacuated and will reopen at a later date."

The store was crowded at the time with shoppers stocking up on supplies for the approaching winter storm.

Last summer, a 2-year-old boy was injured in a shooting at a Stone Mountain Kroger. The suspect, Chazerel Burton, was charged with aggravated assault and property damage.
