A woman says she was high on crystal meth and not trying to escape a recent arrest when she choked a Palm Bay, Fla., police officer inside a booking room, police said.

Police documents show suspect Jeannie Yvonne Poff, 42, slipped out of her handcuffs, got behind an officer and attacked her with the handcuffs, pulling her to the ground at the Palm Bay Police Department.

"While she was waiting to get booked, she had approached from behind Officer Victoria Rodriguez, and at that time, Officer Rodriguez told her pretty much to back off," Yvonne Martinez with Palm Bay police told WFTV.

Poff was arrested last Monday after officers found her in a vacant home on Upland Avenue. She was with Eldon Shultz, 51, who told police he met the woman the night before. He said he knew from living on Upland in the past that the house was vacant.

Police looked inside the house and found Poff curled up underneath a window, trying to hide. While searching the home to make sure nobody else was inside, they found a beer can with marijuana on top of it.

When she first spoke to police, Poff identified herself as "Lisa Leigh Sloan." Police say that after she was photographed at the station, she was able to get out of her handcuffs and attack the officer. Other officers came to remove Poff, using a Taser. Rodriguez was not seriously injured, according to WFTV.

Police interviewed the suspect after the attack. She told them her real name, and police found she was on felony probation for possession of a controlled substance and had an active warrant for failing to appear in court.

Records show Shultz was booked on charges of loitering or prowling, possession of cannabis and possession of paraphernalia.

Poff was booked on all the same charges, as well as attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, violation of felony probation, resisting officers with violence, resisting without violence, and giving a false name to a law enforcement officer upon arrest.
