ATLANTA -- Police have arrested the teen driver accused of hitting and seriously injuring a cyclist in Atlanta's Morningside neighborhood.

Police say 19-year-old Joseph Alan Lewis was driving a red Dodge Nitro last month when he allegedly hit cyclist Greg Germani after an argument.

Jail records show Lewis was booked in the Fulton County Jail at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday on charges of aggravated assault, aggressive driving, criminal property damage, criminal attempt to commit murder, hit and run, driving on an expired license, failure to report an accident, reckless driving and serious injury by vehicle.

Authorities also arrested Lewis' girlfriend, Shanelle Woodard, on Wednesday. She's charged with tampering with evidence.

Both suspects made their first court appearances at 11 a.m. Thursday. A Fulton County judge determined Lewis was not eligible for bond. Woodard's bond was set at $15,000. She reportedly cried, "I didn't do anything!" in court.

Germani, 50, broke his back and suffered a brain injury in the wreck.
