SYLVESTER, Ga. -- The 2-year-old girl from Mississippi who was the subject of Amber Alert was found early Thursday in Sylvester, Ga., according to authorities. The girl's parents were taken into custody.

Police are awaiting autopsy to decide if Donald Boyd Harris and Allison Studdard will face charges in the death of their 7-month-old daughter, Alyssa.

They're currently in custody in Georgia, awaiting extradition on drug charges, Lowndes County Capt. Bryan Rickert said.

Several states were on the lookout for the couple on Wednesday when an Amber Alert was issued for their 2-year-old daughter, Maliah.

The couple, who police say they'd had limited contact with, were living in Lowndes County with Allison's father, Roger Studdard, the children's grandfather. Allegedly when Alyssa was found dead Wednesday morning around 5:30 A.M., the grandfather called police.

An Amber Alert has been issued for a 2-year-old Maliah Harris, whose infant sister was found dead in the home from which police said she was taken by her parents, Donald Boyd Harris and Allison Studdard.

Harris and Studdard slipped out the door while he was on the phone. It's unclear at this point if they will face additional charges.

"It's too early in the investigation to say," Rickert said. "That will be part of the investigation process."

The couple and the child were spotted at a gas station in Sylvester, Ga., and an officer pulled the vehicle over on U.S. Highway 82.

Maliah is currently in the custody of the Department of Human Services in Georgia, Rickert said. They will decide who will receive custody of the child.

Lowndes County Chief Deputy Marc Miley says drugs were discovered in the home of Harris and Studdard. Miley told NBC's Tupelo station WTVA that a search of the home uncovered meth and ice.

Investigator Eric Granderson with the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department said at this point the deceased child does not seem to show signs of violence.

"The autopsy is pending. It doesn't look like there are apparent injuries," Granderson said.

Police said the parents were being questioned early Thursday.
